The Cook County Office of the President serves as the executive branch of the nation's second-largest county, overseeing a $9 billion budget and a workforce of more than 20,000 employees countywide. Led by President Toni Preckwinkle, the office sets the strategic vision for county government, guiding key initiatives in healthcare, public safety, economic development, infrastructure, and equity. Cook County is seeking a seasoned, visionary leader to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff – Policy, the most senior policy strategist within the Office of the President. This role will shape and drive forward thePresident’s strategic policy agenda across the agency and across all issue areas.
As the top policy advisor to the President and Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief plays a dual role: translatingvision into implementation across a broad and dynamic policy portfolio and guiding a team of generalistsand subject matter experts to do the same. This leader is charged with surfacing and solving complexchallenges; ensuring alignment on reforms within multi-stakeholder environments; and stewarding a highfunctioning, data-informed, and impact-oriented policy strategy.
This is a hybrid role located in Chicago, IL.
Compensation for this role is commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. The base salary range is $151,920- $185,680, accompanied by a strong government benefits package inclusive of pension and health benefits.
